The end of SEO?

Dec 18, 2009   //   by FreshTraffic   //   fresh traffic, Google, internet news, seo  //  458 Comments

Doom and gloom! SEO is dead! Google won’t care about your effective optimization anymore!

Noise is being made by the little guys about Googles new display tendancy which is incoming. Google announced recently that they’re going to start displaying search results based upon each individual users history, irregardless of being logged into a Google account or not.

A basic rundown of how it’ll work:

User searches for “blue suede shoes” and gets their results, for arguments sakes we’ll just call them A, B, C, D, E, representing the top 5. In that showing of top 5, based upon the descriptions given, they decide that C, is most relevant to their purposes, and click on that link and browse that site. Now, should that person search for “blue suede shoes” again, the rankings may look more like this: A, C, B, D, E. Google will assign a tad more authority to the previously clicked link, specifically for that user.

Does this mean all of a sudden that all SEO is worthless? Quite the opposite really, if anything it’s more important now than ever before. If your site isn’t engaging enough, or relevant enough to be listed initially, why should a user click through to your site?

Having the quality, building up your authority, being relevant, now more than ever proper optimization; both on and off site, is exceedingly important. There’s no time like the present for a Fresh start.

Work with your SEO

It should be safe to assume that SEOs don’t know a thing about your industry. Ergo, We can also assume that most client’s don’t know anything about proper online marketing. Most clients think their audience is just like them, if they like technical details then that must be what the audience wants. If they like fluff then that’s what you have to provide because nobody looks at the technical stuff.

Nothing could be further from the truth, the target audience isn’t all like us. They search differently, they expect different things, and they respond differently. All of these differences aside howerver, there is one thing that all searchers have in common. They all want to know they landed on the right website. And if you don’t show them that with your content, they’re going to hit that back button.

Searchers don’t have time to figure out if you are going to meet their needs. Only once they know you do will they stay and read more or dig deeper. You only have a couple of seconds to grab their interest or they move off. If at first glance they don’t see their search results on the page, they are gone.

SEOs and clients can learn a lot from each other, but it takes a genuine collaborative effort. Knowing your stuff isn’t enough. Because you don’t know anything about SEO. How do I know?

Because you came to Fresh to do it for you.

Happy Anniversary Fresh Traffic Canada

Well it seems myself and Google have yet again something in common, birthdays.

Google went public 5 years ago and Fresh Traffic moved to Canada 2 years to the day.

To say it has been a hard slog would be a understatement, 4/5 years behind the times where the Internet is concerned, It felt like the Jurassic era, some company’s here still think it’s a fad, unbelievable.

Never one to quit though we have soldiered on spreading the word of search marketing and web optimization use for business.

I was invited to come look at Winnipeg Manitoba the heart of the continent after intially agreeing to go setup office in Toronto, boy was I surprised.

The place is great, the people are great and lots of opportunity, but business marketing here is well, old and local.

Marketers here still look to local Rags, local radio, oh… and of course the billboards and buses. Some are still amazed with their zerox machines and some have fax too.

Now for someone who was taking payments by text message in Europe 6/7 years ago, marketing the internet in 1999 and leading the search engines top listings from 1997, you can see this would be a bit of shocker.

Times are changing though, the news has arrived that the US has a new President and yes he won the election with help from the internet. The local papers now talk about twittering and radio adverts even mention www. in advertising.

Manitoba is trying to be greener, so hopefully all the monies spent on glossy magazine advertising that get 500 readers might soon change to PDF’s and save loads of trees.

Fresh is trying to do its bit for Manitoba by planting the oranges and seeds around the Province in hope that they will one day take root and prosper the new business with fresh ideas.

Would I change anything? Not on your life

Fresh takes a bigger slice of orange

Winnipeg: Fresh Traffic Group Acquires Majority Stake in Orange Productions Media.

Kim Lewis one of the partners said “We have been looking to get more involved with the production media sector for several years, but we didn’t want to create just another clone in a sea of ‘me too’ media sites. When the opportunity came up to acquire a larger stake with an esteemed player with a stellar reputation within the industry, we decided to take the plunge.”

“The Fresh Traffic Group see this as a major opportunity to build on the existing credibility and respect Orange has gained within the industry,” according to the other American shareholders of Fresh.

The site features easy navigation and more informative pages and; internet SEO tools to help visitors better understand the detailed services they offer and their benefits.

“We felt it was time to use the wealth of information and results we have achieved to better represent ourselves in the North American market. Our services needed to be clearer to the captive audience we are looking to approach, and its imperative we give them the facts quickly to ensure they have come to the right place”, says David Guspodarchuk, Sales Manager of Fresh Traffic Group.

“New products used to get a traditional introduction to the marketplace,” says President Jerry Booth. “A company would send out a press release and advertise in the paper, on TV or on the radio, and a website would be created to highlight the new product’s capabilities. But now, product launches involve a new strategy that focuses on social networking, SEO, link-building, website optimization and content creation, integrated into many of the traditional marketing and public relations techniques already in use.”

Mr. Booth further states, “Recent events where history has been made show how times have changed. You still need to do all the traditional work with websites to list high in search engines like Google & Yahoo, but we have now integrated traditional media and marketing strategies with new media and social media services. Fresh Traffic offers a personalized approach to communication practices in areas such as; marketing strategy and marketing intelligence; internal positioning and reputation management; brand management; public relations and media relations; and small business consulting and global marketing practices. “

“Fresh has just been awarded the Top SEO Company for the second month in a row by Search Tech which confirms our leadership position in the SEO industry,” comments Mr. Booth. “Although every employee at Fresh is proud to work for the best SEO Company in Canada, we are not satisfied. Indeed, we are restless. In order to achieve many more number one rankings for our company, we must build on our success, not rest on it.”

51% of firms cite better conversion rates for using search engine marketing

Nov 20, 2008   //   by FreshTraffic   //   fresh traffic, internet marketing, search engine optimization  //  7 Comments

New research has found that 51 per cent of businesses use search engine marketing in order to drive better conversion rates in online and offline sales.

Aberdeen Group conducted a study of 200 organisations around the globe in order to ascertain what makes the “Best-in-Class” so much better than the rest.

Steve Lawrence, research analyst at Aberdeen and author of the research report “What Does It Take to Create Best-in-Class Search Engine Marketing?”, commented: “Companies, large and small, will need to justify to their executives the successes and failures in search marketing efforts in a quantifiable way or risk losing budget.”

Furthermore, he stated that, regardless of the market, businesses now need to maximise their return on investment as tougher economic times mean firms are fighting for fewer customers overall.

Aberdeen Group is a fact-based research company that is focused predominantly on the technology-driven global value chain.

Last year the company published over 100 extensive research studies and counts more than 93 per cent of the Software 500 among its client-base.
